Worldwide, canola oil is the third most popular vegetable oil by volume, running just behind soybean and palm oil, because it’s so cheap and works so good at preserving food. The reason it’s such a good preservative is that nothing will eat it, except stupid (uniformed) humans. Bugs won’t eat canola oil. Animals hate it. It’s not a plant, after all.
Most of the world’s canola oil comes from one of two species of oilseed rape, either Brassica rapa or Brassica napus. In fact, plant-based canola oil is approved by the EPA for insect pest control. It kills flies, beetles and their larvae, caterpillars, stinkbugs, moths, mites, mildew, and over the long-term, it kills humans.
Big Food corporations love to use food processors to mix canola oil into foods to preserve them, giving them a longer shelf life, especially pre-made salads and other “food stuff” that would perish much quicker without it. Mounds of research, however, now reveal that the chronic administration of a diet enriched with canola oil leads to “significant deficits of working memory and synaptic pathology,” meaning memory loss and neurofibrillary tangles (a major cause of Alzheimer’s disease – the most common form of dementia).
Yes, according to a new study out of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and published in the journal Scientific Reports, animals that eat canola oil end up with significantly higher amounts of amyloid plaques that diminish contact between brain neurons, contributing to poor brain function, chronic inflammation, brain fog, depression and loss of energy. This brings us to the massive weight gain issue.
Take a stroll through Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s and you might think the majority of food choices are “good for you,” but without using your brain to read the ingredients list, you are most likely selecting canola-laden products, even the store’s own brand name stuff. Most pre-prepped salads that are “juiced up” and creamy with dressings contain mind-numbing, obesity-inducing canola oil.
Think twice (and check the ingredients) before buying potato salad, coleslaw, chicken salad, stir fry, salad dressings, mayonnaise, frozen meals, baked goods and nearly all chips and cookies. Plus, 90 percent or more of all canola oil is genetically modified to contain pesticides.
Leave some canola oil outside in a bowl for several weeks and watch what happens. No bugs come for it. No animals. It thickens. It coagulates like glue. This is what happens to it inside your body and brain also. It’s called plaque. It leads to weight gain, memory loss, and cancer. Canola oil has all but taken over as the food processing industry’s first choice.
Canola oil consumption adds to your risk of hypertension and stroke as it contributes to high blood pressure due to blood coagulation and increased fragility in the membranes of erythrocytes (type of red blood cell), and that leads to stroke.
If you don’t already, flip over every single edible product you’re considering buying at every single store, whether it’s organic or not, and if it contains canola oil, whether that is organic or not, just set the product back down and move on. It’s just not worth it. Do you want to be obese and dumb? Do you want to experience chronic lethargy and loss of memory? Don’t eat canola oil. It’s certainly not “heart healthy.” It’s not even food. It’s not even a plant. Avoid it like the plague.
